April Showers

I’m going to put to bed my recent post themes of moving, distress over moving, getting the house ready to move, and overcoming difficulties when your life takes on a trajectory other than one you’re prepared for. I have been diligent about resuming my joyful outlook, and I am proud to report that I have been successful. I’m baaaaaack! What was intended for harm only made me stronger. And not a moment too soon, either. The Singletarys have a very eventful spring and early summer that I need to be in tip-top shape for, both physically and emotionally. I would imagine that there are other families out there that have more on the docket than we do (maybe the Duggars), but I might be tempted to put this spring’s schedule against almost anyone out there. I’ll spare you the intricate details, but I can tell you that the highlights are #3 child’s wedding in May, and #1 child’s baby due in June ~ which means this is #1 grandchild on the way! No big deal, you say?? Let’s not forget the #4 child’s graduation in May; #’s 5, 6, and 7 kids living in Minnesota along with Dad; Mom’s travelling back and forth between California and Minnesota; bridal and baby showers; #1 daughter and son-in-law moving to new location; and track meets and practices peppered in the schedule. (whew! Kinda makes me tired when I see it all in print.)

So we got the ball rolling this past weekend with a bridal shower for Jill (#3 daughter) and her fiance, OJ, at the spectacularly gorgeous home of my cousin Laura and her husband Carl. My Aunt Linda flew in to put her decorating and party-throwing expertise to work, and the outcome was a beautifully intimate gathering that both the bride and groom enjoyed. Both families have meshed so beautifully that long after the shower was over, we sat and visited the until the hunger pangs hit again and we ordered pizzas to enjoy out in the summer-like April evening.

Not sure how we can properly thank my cousin Laura and Aunt Linda.

Both mom’s. OJ’s mother is beautiful!

The bride, Jill, with a glimpse of the spectacular setting of Laura’s home.

My almost-son-in-law, OJ.

The bride and groom.

I’m so happy for both of them and for the blessing that each additional child brings to this family. Next up — baby shower!!!
