Buh-Bye

Earlier this week we said goodbye to London, and goodbye to my girlfriends. I’m not sure I can put into words the wonderful time we had. Usually, when five women get together, it would be safe to expect some level of drama, or pouting, or just plain annoyance. But not this time. We must have all been in need of a vacation, because we simply had a spectacular time together. Here are a few more photos from the week…

Big Ben was impressive:

We all had a fondness for Princess Diana, and seeing her home and walking her old stomping grounds really made us miss her even more:

Sure hope I’m not violating some copyright rules, but Jermaine Jackson stopped to talk to Mike in our hotel lobby. Yep, THAT Jermaine Jackson!

And a few fun pics from the game…

Gotta love a pre-game field pass:

And red all around:

Thankfully, the long trip was a gridiron success. The 49ers defeated the Denver Broncos, which made the entire event even more enjoyable. Because of the travel involved, the NFL schedule-makers were kind to us and gave us the next week off. So, I thought I’d share some of what we did for our Bye weekend. First and foremost,

Sleep. It’s a rare and precious commodity for coaches during the season. So, today he was able to sleep in well past his usual 6:30 a.m. wake up nudge.

He’s not a coffee drinker; Lord knows, I’ve tried. But he does enjoy some caffeine-free alternatives, and I enjoy when he can tag along with me.

Believe it or not, he’s a shopper. He really enjoys heading to the mall on a beautiful day (notice the tree), especially when we’re stopping at the Sony store and looking at big screen TVs now that our construction is nearly complete. And he even allowed himself one of the favorite treats in our area:

Sprinkles Cupcakes! He did, however, find the healthiest one ~ pumpkin.

Not only does he like to shop the mall, he LOVES to grocery shop. Like most couples, we have some pesky, long-standing ‘issues’ between us, and one of ours is the fact that he can never go to the grocery store and get only what we need. Tonight, he volunteered to run and get 3 things for dinner. A literal hour later, this is what he came home with:

EIGHT BAGS!!! He really enjoys cruising the aisles, and he rarely gets to do it, so I should be supportive and understanding, right? Drives. Me. Crazy.

And the best part of a Bye weekend?

Sitting back, relaxing on the couch, and watching Spongebob Squarepants with the kids. He’s enjoying the physical break; mentally, though, he’s revving up for a stellar second half of the season.
