Birthday Celebrations

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, AMERICA!!!  With all of your wrinkles and your flaws, you’re still the grandest country of them all!

How much travelling have you done outside of the country?  If you have, then I bet you’ll agree with me that America is the best.  Italy, I’ve said before, is a very close second for the simple fact that pasta is served with every meal.  But there’s nothing like coming back home to America and it’s ventilation systems in every building, it’s indoor plumbing(!!), it’s smoke-free policies, it’s traditions, and it’s gool ol’ home feeling.

I will be certain to avoid politicizing any of these posts, but I’d like for us to make an effort to restore this country back to its greatness.  We seem to have lost sight of some of what the founding fathers envisioned when they laid the groundwork for our current systems.  There is such an emphasis placed on our rights as citizens, that we have overlooked our responsibility as citizens.

There is a saying, ‘a luxury once experienced soon becomes a necessity.’  Many of our grandparents and great-grandparents came to America at the turn of the century and couldn’t hide their pride and appreciation for the opportunities that were afforded them once they set foot on American soil. There was no end to the hard work and dedication they put forth in order for them to own a piece of the American dream. Sadly, today, as a whole, this country seems to have lost the zealous pursuit of, and appreciation for, the core values that this country was founded on, which afforded us the luxuries that we now so easily take for granted. Make a conscious effort to keep God at the foundation of your life, and the trickle down effect just may allow Him to stay at the foundation of this great nation. We won’t last long without God’s blessing upon us.

God Bless You, and God Bless America!
